BRIEF HISTORY OF CHRIST THE KING ANGLICAN CHURCH BUOKORM ESTATE

FORMATION

Some devoted Anglican who had related to Buokrom Estate in the early part of 1980 established this branch through morning devotion in hall of the Madam Mary Toku.

FOUNDING MEMBER

Prominent among those who helped to establish it were the late nana appiah danquah, the late Mr. George E. O. Amar , Mr. Essirifi, Madam Sarah Amar, Amdam Matilda Biney. Mr. Andrew Nyamkye and the twin sisters, Lucy Bawuah and Margaret Bawuah.

FIRST COMMUNION SERVICE

 Rev. Canon Koomson was invited to organize the first communion service.

The members were increasing in number and had to move from Madam Toku’s Hall to the premises of Popisco at A-Line, This turn from devotion to Sunday service.

The Sunday service moved from popisco to the premises of Modern International School at B-Line.

ACQUISITION OF LAND

Some of the founding members with the assistance of Mr. Asante who used to work at the State Housing Company and who had then joined the Church tirelessly and fiercely applied for the acquisition of the present plot of lands. They made building plan which include community centre, school block, church building and mission house. St. Anne’s Anglican Church, Ash Town paid for the cost of the plot.

LAYING OF FOUNDATION STONE

The foundation stone of the present Church Building was laid by Bishop Daniel Yinkah Sarfo under the chairmanship of Dr. Kwame Addo Kuffour on 4th September 1999.
